Beginning January 1, 2019, child care providers must obtain and maintain liability insurance coverage as a condition of licensure, temporary permission, or registration to operate a child care facility.

Liability insurance coverage is defined as a general casualty insurance policy insuring against legal liability for injury resulting from negligence to a child under the provider's care.

The Department of Human Services may suspend or revoke a provider's license, temporary permit, or certificate of registration if the provider or any employee knowingly makes a false statement concerning the provider's liability insurance coverage.

The Act takes effect on July 1, 2070.
