Home schooled students are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities at the public school they would otherwise be required to attend.

Home schooled students must meet health requirements under sections 302A-1154 through 302A-1157 before participating in any extracurricular activity.

Home schooled students must meet all participation requirements and restrictions for the activity, including grade point averages and fees, unless inconsistent with this section.

Home schooled students must submit a birth certificate and proof of residency, and be registered with the school as home-schooled at the beginning of the school year at least twelve months before participating.

The department may adopt rules to implement the law and define which programs qualify as extracurricular activities, including sports, cheerleading, clubs, and other school-authorized education-related activities.
