Requires all child care facilities registered or licensed by the Department of Human Services that care for children under one year of age to implement and maintain a written safe sleep policy to prevent sudden infant death syndrome and sudden unexpected infant deaths.

Mandates that children under one year of age be placed on their backs to sleep, unless a health care practitioner provides written instructions for alternate sleep positioning.

Requires child care facilities to discuss the safe sleep policy with parents or legal guardians before enrollment and obtain a signed statement confirming receipt and discussion of the policy.

Requires all employees, household members, and volunteers to complete department-approved safe sleep training upon hire and annually thereafter, with facilities maintaining training records.

Requires child care facilities to report to the Department of Human Services within one working day any deaths of children, employees, or household members, and any illness or injury resulting in hospitalization that occurs at the facility.
