Requests that the State Auditor conduct a sunrise review of proposed licensure and regulation of gerontologists under a related Senate Bill from the 2017 Regular Session.

Notes that gerontologists currently are not required to be licensed, certified, registered, or otherwise regulated by the State of Hawaii.

Acknowledges that gerontologists provide direct care to older adults and develop services and programs for Hawaii's aging population.

Requires the Auditor to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session convenes.

References Hawaii Revised Statutes section 26H-6, which mandates that new measures subjecting unregulated professions to licensing controls be referred to the Auditor for analysis.
