Director of Health is requested to establish a medication synchronization working group to explore and propose legislation for Hawaii.

Working group membership to include two retail pharmacy representatives, one community pharmacy association representative, one health insurance industry representative, and one Board of Pharmacy representative.

Working group tasked with gathering information on medication synchronization practices nationwide, reviewing best practices from other jurisdictions, recommending pharmacy staff education requirements, and drafting proposed legislation for Hawaii standards.

Working group to address 90-day fills, pharmacist dispensing fees, patient copays, and other emerging policies related to medication synchronization programs.

Written report with findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation must be submitted to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2018 Regular Session convening.
