Request the Governor to issue a proclamation designating 2018 as the Year of the Hawaiian to celebrate Native Hawaiian achievements.

Recognize that nearly 30 years have passed since 1988, the last Year of the Hawaiian celebration, which culminated in a gathering at Aloha Stadium on January 23, 1988.

Acknowledge significant Native Hawaiian achievements over the past 30 years in education, healthcare, music and culture, natural resource management, environmental protection, civic engagement, Hawaiian language preservation, and business and economic prosperity.

Call together Native Hawaiian organizations to organize and plan celebratory events across all islands throughout the Year of the Hawaiian.

Direct transmission of certified copies to the Governor and the Mayor of each county.
