Department of Health requested to collaborate with Department of Education, Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, and University of Hawaii to promote awareness of adolescent vaccines, particularly meningococcal disease vaccinations.

Department of Health to provide information to students and parents statewide about vaccine serogroups, symptoms, risks, prevention, and treatment of meningococcal disease.

Department of Health to include information on availability, benefits, risks, and limitations of all vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, including meningococcal vaccines for serogroups A and B.

Department of Health to make recommendations to educational institutions regarding immunization of current and entering adolescent and young adult students.

Certified copies of resolution to be transmitted to Director of Health, Superintendent of Education, University of Hawaii chancellors, and Executive Director of Hawaii Association of Independent Schools.
