Request Department of Education to develop and establish a "live, learn, work, and play" program across Department schools to promote workforce readiness through coordination with University of Hawaii and industry employers.

Program shall enable high school students to graduate with both a high school diploma and an industry-recognized associate's degree, earn pre-apprenticeship and industry-recognized certificates, and participate in mentoring, job shadowing, internships, and workplace education experiences.

Establish a K-12 curriculum to career pipeline initiative allowing students to pursue training and education throughout their time in Department schools, equipping them with skills, certifications, licensing, or dual credit to enter Hawaii's workforce upon graduation.

Implement an academy school initiative with participating schools offering special instruction focused on practical application of academic and technical skills, with enrollment open to students within the geographic service area and out-of-area students via lottery if capacity is exceeded.

Department of Education shall submit a progress report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session, including any proposed legislation necessary to implement the program.
