Requests the Department of Health Director to establish a Sepsis Best Practices Group with one physician champion and one administrative representative from each of Hawaii's acute care hospitals.

Group shall meet regularly to discuss sepsis best practices, educational opportunities, federal policies, and facilitate improvement needs-assessments within each facility.

Group shall monitor Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' consideration of National Quality Forum measure #0500 and its potential impact on Hawaii hospitals.

Group shall work to define sepsis incidence baseline data in Hawaii, partner with critical access hospitals on best practices, and encourage adoption of sepsis educational materials.

Group must submit a written report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2018 Regular Session convenes.
