Hawaii Tourism Authority receives significant state funding through the tourism special fund allocated from transient accommodations tax collections, with 2016 tourism generating approximately 8.9 million visitors and $15.6 billion in spending.

Auditor must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session convenes.
