Request the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring Alfred Apaka on March 19, 2019, marking the centennial of his birth.

Alfred Apaka (1919-1960) was a renowned Native Hawaiian vocalist and cultural icon who performed professionally from 1938 until his death, including at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and Kaiser's Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.

Request that the commemorative stamp be first released in Waikiki, where Apaka established his career as a performer, before national distribution.

Note that Apaka would be the first Native Hawaiian honored with a commemorative stamp since Duke Kahanamoku in 2002.

Direct certified copies of the resolution to be sent to the Postmaster General, the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee, Hawaii's congressional delegation, the Governor, and county mayors.
