Request the State Auditor to conduct a management audit of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, which was established in 1998 to serve as the lead state agency for Hawaii's tourism industry.

Hawaii Tourism Authority receives funding from the tourism special fund, which is allocated a portion of transient accommodations tax collections annually, and handles significant state expenditures.

Audit is prompted by concerns regarding the Hawaii Tourism Authority's internal governance practices and need for increased transparency in administration of the public agency.

Auditor must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2018.

Certified copies of the resolution must be transmitted to the Auditor, Director of Business Economic Development and Tourism, and President and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
