Request that the Hawaii Public Housing Authority document all violations of the smoking prohibition in section 356D-6.5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, which applies to public housing, state low-income housing, and elder or elderly households.

Require the Hawaii Public Housing Authority to permanently retain smoking violation documentation in residents' records for consideration when evaluating lease extensions or new lease agreements.

Establish that violations should factor into the Authority's decisions to grant or deny lease agreements with residents who have violated the smoking prohibition.

Cite health concerns from secondhand and thirdhand smoke exposure, including potential cancer-causing substances that pose risks to nonsmokers and children in public housing.

Direct certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Hawaii Public Housing Authority.
