Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism is requested to develop a master plan for the Hilo International Aerospace and Technology Park in collaboration with specified agencies including the High Technology Development Corporation, Office of Aerospace Development, University of Hawaii at Hilo, and County of Hawaii.

The master plan shall identify a site in Hilo for the park and must be submitted to the Legislature no later than 60 days before the convening of the 2018 Regular Session.

The park is intended to support aerospace, technology, and innovation industries in East Hawaii through workforce training, internship programs, and coordination with educational institutions and space exploration organizations.

Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism may request additional agencies and organizations to participate in developing the master plan, including those promoting Native Hawaiian and youth interest in aerospace technology.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to relevant state departments, agency boards, educational institutions, and the County of Hawaii.
