S.R. 56 Summary

• Requests the Department of Accounting and General Services to assume sole authority over disbursements and issuance of checks from the Tourism Special Fund, which is established within the state treasury as of June 30, 2015.

• Notes that Act 235 (2005) previously gave the Hawaii Tourism Authority the ability to issue checks from the fund, but Act 102 (2010) reenacted language reestablishing the fund within the state treasury, effectively removing that authority.

• Requests the Department of Accounting and General Services, Department of Budget and Finance, and Attorney General to provide proposed legislation with necessary conforming amendments to Hawaii Revised Statutes no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session.

• Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Attorney General, Comptroller, and Director of Finance.
