H.B. 1036 Summary

• Renames the "High Technology Development Corporation" to the "Hawaii Technology Development Corporation" effective July 1, 2017, to better reflect that technology is now integral across all industries.

• Updates Chapter 206M and all related statutes to replace references to "high technology development corporation" with "Hawaii technology development corporation" throughout Hawaii Revised Statutes.

• Substitutes the term "technology" for "high technology" in specific sections of Chapter 206M and updates the definition of "technology" to include electronics, biotechnology, software, computers, telecommunications, and other computer-related technologies.

• Repeals Chapter 206M, Part II, which established the unfunded and inactive Hawaii Software Service Center that had not operated for at least ten years.

• Preserves validity of all existing contracts, leases, rules, and documents using the former "high technology development corporation" name.
