H.B. 1095 Summary

• Reduces the number of Hawaiian Homes Commission members representing the city and county of Honolulu from three to two members.

• Increases the number of commission members representing Maui County from two to three members.

• Adds a requirement that one of the three Maui County commissioners must be a resident of the island of Lanai.

• Maintains the total commission size at nine members and retains all other membership requirements, including the Hawaiian ancestry requirement.

• Effective date: January 1, 2018.
