HB 1153 Summary

• Prohibits smoking and tobacco use on all University of Hawaii premises, including the use of electronic smoking devices, effective July 1, 2017.

• Defines covered products as cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, snus, and electronic smoking devices that aerosolize nicotine or other substances.

• Exempts mere possession or storage of tobacco products intended for use outside UH premises from violating the policy.
