HI HB1520

Prohibits insurers from issuing, renewing, or re-enrolling individuals in short-term, limited-duration health insurance policies if they were eligible to purchase coverage through the federal health insurance marketplace during an open or special enrollment period in the previous calendar year.

Requires all short-term, limited-duration health insurance policies delivered or issued in Hawaii to have an expiration date of less than 91 days.

Defines "short-term, limited-duration health insurance" as health coverage with a duration of less than 91 days that does not meet all requirements of standard individual health insurance.

Classifies short-term, limited-duration health insurance as a limited benefit health insurance contract subject to the same regulatory provisions as other limited benefit policies under Hawaii insurance code.

Takes effect upon approval.
