HB 1625 Summary

• Allows registered vehicle owners to designate a beneficiary to receive vehicle ownership upon the owner's death.

• Beneficiary designation may be revoked or changed by vehicle sale, application for new registration without beneficiary designation, or execution of a subsequent will.

• Beneficiary's interest in the vehicle is subject to any existing contracts of sale, assignments, or security interests held by the owner at time of death.

• Certificate of ownership must include "transfer on death to" (TOD) designation followed by the beneficiary's name when applicable.

• Becomes effective on January 1, 2100.
