HI HB1745

Expands the mandatory training course on Native Hawaiian and Hawaiian rights (established by Act 169, SLH 2015) to include additional state and county government officials beyond those previously required.

Adds training requirements for division heads of the Department of Land and Natural Resources; specified directors and deputy directors of the Departments of Transportation and Health; county planning department heads; county council members; and county planning commission members.

Requires new appointees and hires to complete the training within twelve months of their initial appointment, hire, or taking of elected office; allows twelve months from the effective date for current employees already serving in their positions.

Directs the Governor and county mayors to provide the Office of Hawaiian Affairs with names of required participants within thirty calendar days of appointment or hire for notification and scheduling purposes.

Takes effect on December 24, 2088.
