Amends the definition of "local contact" for transient accommodations to require that the contact be a real estate broker or real estate salesperson licensed under Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 467.

Removes the previous allowance for "an individual" or "an entity with a place of business" to serve as a local contact, narrowing the requirement to licensed real estate professionals only.

Requires the local contact to reside on the same island as the transient accommodation or resort time share vacation unit.

Applies to operators who reside in a different state or island from the location of their short-term vacation rental, intended to protect consumers.

Takes effect upon approval.
