HI HB2012

Allocates funds from transient accommodations tax revenues to the Hawaii Tourism Authority beginning July 1, 2018, to implement initiatives addressing homelessness in tourist and resort areas, in conjunction with the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association.

Requires private sector to match allocated funds dollar-for-dollar before any funds are released.

Designates funds for provision of social services as defined in section 346-1, with tourist and resort areas to be designated by respective counties.

Requires Hawaii Tourism Authority to submit a report to the legislature at least twenty days prior to the 2019 regular session including status of initiatives, costs, funding sources, and effectiveness data.

Requires data collected from homelessness initiatives to be entered into the Homeless Management Information System by the homeless programs office for effectiveness evaluation.
