Amends Section 353H-32 of Hawaii Revised Statutes to require the Department of Public Safety to inform inmates about assistance in securing or verifying Medicaid eligibility prior to release or parole.

Expands the department's existing obligations to help inmates obtain identification documents (birth certificates, social security cards) and access social services and housing by adding Medicaid eligibility assistance.

Requires the department to provide this assistance to inmates who request it and have one year or less before their scheduled parole or release date.

Takes effect on July 1, 2018.
