HI HB22

Requires the University of Hawaii to expend appropriations for the specific purposes described in the general appropriations act, supplemental appropriations act, budget worksheets, or other appropriations vehicles.

Mandates the University of Hawaii submit a report to the legislature no later than twenty days before the next regular session if funds are not fully expended or are spent for different purposes than intended, with detailed explanations required.

Requires the director of finance or University of Hawaii to return unexpended appropriated funds plus any related recurring appropriations to the general fund during the fiscal year following submission of the required report.

Applies to all appropriations made to the University of Hawaii, including those modified or reduced by the governor or director of finance under chapter 37.

Takes effect on July 1, 2017.
