HI HB2425

Authorizes the Department of Land and Natural Resources to establish different subtypes of commercial marine licenses, including fishery-specific, gear-specific, vessel, and professional or part-time licenses.

Requires any person taking marine life for commercial purposes to obtain a commercial marine license or applicable subtype license, whether the marine life is caught within or outside of Hawaii.

Requires vessel charter service providers in Hawaii to obtain a commercial marine license or subtype license for taking marine life.

Empowers the department to adopt rules and set fees for commercial marine licensing through the administrative procedure process.

Maintains existing provisions requiring license suspension or denial for applicants in non-compliance with child support orders or in default on student loans financed through education scholarships.
