H.B. 2545 Summary

• Requires the state sustainability coordinator of the office of planning to complete a comprehensive study and plan for green infrastructure opportunities in Hawaii at state, regional, and neighborhood levels.

• Study and plan must identify green infrastructure opportunities with related costs and savings, best practices for planning and development, implementation strategies, and any needed legal or regulatory changes.

• State sustainability coordinator must submit a progress report no later than 20 days before the 2020 legislative session and a final report with findings and recommendations before the 2021 legislative session.

• Appropriates $750,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2018-2019 to the department of business, economic development, and tourism to fund the study and plan.

• Effective date is July 1, 2018.
