HB2697 Summary

• Adds a new requirement for the Office of Veterans' Services to organize, coordinate, and conduct a biennial Hawaii Veterans Summit that assembles federal and state agencies, veterans' organizations, and community entities to discuss issues affecting veterans and their families.

• The veterans summit shall address benefits, rights, services available to veterans, and other pertinent information on assistance for veterans and their families and dependents.

• Appropriates $400,000 out of general revenues for fiscal year 2018-2019 to the Office of Veterans' Services to conduct the biennial Hawaii Veterans Summit.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2018.
