HI HCR216

Urges the City and County of Honolulu to create at least one inclusive playground accessible to children and caregivers of all physical abilities.

Requires community input be obtained and considered before any design or construction of inclusive playgrounds takes place.

Specifies that inclusive playgrounds must be designed and constructed in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, along with relevant Department of Justice guidelines for play areas, surfaces, components, and access routes.

Requires inclusive playgrounds to include sufficient and accessible amenities, including parking spaces and bathrooms.

Directs transmission of the resolution to the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation.
