Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs requested to convene a midwifery regulatory working group to study midwifery definition, licensure establishment, and data collection/peer review processes for all midwives in Hawaii.

Working group membership includes the DCCA Director, Senate Committee on Commerce chair, House Committee on Health and Human Services chair, Hawaii Section of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists chair, Midwives Alliance of Hawaii president, a representative for uncertified midwives designated by Papa Ola Lokahi, and Legislative Reference Bureau representative.

Working group members to elect a chairperson, vice chairperson, and other necessary officers from among their membership.

Working group must report findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 Regular Session convenes.

Working group is requested to cease operations on June 30, 2019.
