Strongly urges the Mayor of Honolulu and City Council to allocate additional resources to the Honolulu Police Department for increased visible police presence and active patrols in Waianae, North Shore, Downtown Honolulu, and Chinatown areas

Identifies crimes including drug dealing, illegal gambling, robbery, arson, vandalism, theft, and burglary as problems affecting residents, business owners, and visitors in these areas

Notes an increase in assaults and thefts reported during the last quarter of 2016, with acknowledgment that many crimes may go unreported to police

Argues that increased visible uniformed police presence would deter criminal activity and provide more immediate assistance to crime victims

Directs transmission of certified resolution copies to the Mayor, Honolulu City Council Chair, and Chief of the Honolulu Police Department
