Requests the Department of Planning and Permitting of the City and County of Honolulu to reevaluate the accessory dwelling unit (ADU) permitting process.

Currently requires one parking space for ADUs, but requires two parking spaces for ohana units (which can only be rented to family members).

Current regulations waive parking space requirements for ADUs located within one-half mile of an existing or proposed rail station.

Proposes requiring two parking spaces for all ADUs regardless of proximity to rail stations, citing concerns about increased residential density and limited on-street parking in urban Honolulu.

As of September 2017, the City and County of Honolulu had approved 248 ADU permits with 113 additional applications under review, with approximately 20,000 Honolulu lots zoned to allow ADUs.
