Gustav H. Webling Elementary School opened on February 26, 1968, and was named after Gustav H. Webling, a teacher and principal in Hawaii's Department of Public Instruction for 36 years.

The school originally consisted of two buildings on opening day, with younger children bused from Aiea Elementary School and fourth and fifth graders walking to the new campus; teachers and students planted trees that remain standing today.

The school currently operates with three classroom buildings, two portable classrooms, a cafeteria, administration building, and a fourth grade lo'i, serving over 476 students with 50 full-time faculty and staff members.

Principal Chad Matsuda and the faculty and staff maintain the school's mission to provide a challenging, standards-based educational environment emphasizing academic achievement, leadership skills, character education, and cultural pride.

The House of Representatives commends and congratulates Gustav H. Webling Elementary School on its 50th anniversary and extends best wishes to the principal, faculty, and staff for their continued educational success.
