H.R. 57 Summary

• Request that the Office of Hawaiian Affairs reconvene and repurpose the Hui Imi Advisory Council to conduct a study on the current state of Hawaiian small businesses in Hawaii

• Council must consult with the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, Small Business Regulatory Review Board, Economic Development Alliance of Hawaii, and other relevant business organizations and agencies

• Office of Hawaiian Affairs requested to provide administrative support to the reconvened Council

• Council directed to examine Hawaiian small business incubators and accelerators, one-stop permitting centers, business incentive programs, post-secondary entrepreneurship education, relevant government policies and fees, and grant programs benefiting Hawaiian small businesses

• Council required to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 Regular Session convenes
