S.B. 2095 Summary

• Lowers the employee threshold for massage therapy establishments required to post National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline posters from five to three or more employees.

• Increases penalties for failing to post the required human trafficking awareness poster from a maximum of $100 to $500 for the first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense, with each day of violation constituting a separate offense.

• Directs all penalties collected for violations to be deposited into the human trafficking victim services fund pursuant to section 706-650.5.

• Permits the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to contract with any state or county department or agency, including county liquor commissions, for implementation and enforcement of poster requirements.
