S.B. 2170 Summary

• Allows one representative from each county council to attend collective bargaining negotiations as a nonvoting participant if that county has employees in the particular bargaining unit.

• Applies to bargaining units (1), (2), (3), (4), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), and (14), which include county employees.

• Requires mayors or their representatives to provide timely updates to their respective county councils regarding bargaining unit negotiations during executive meetings.

• Maintains existing voting structure for public employer negotiations while adding county council observer participation.

• Takes effect upon approval.
