Board of Dental Examiners must adopt rules establishing a regulatory structure for dental assistants with three certification levels: basic-level, qualified, and advanced-qualified.

Qualified dental assistants must have a high school diploma or GED and pass the Certified Dental Assistant certification examination from the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc.

Advanced-qualified dental assistants must meet qualified dental assistant requirements plus receive expanded function training in duties specified by board rules.

Board of Dental Examiners must submit a progress report to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 regular legislative session convening.

Act takes effect on July 1, 3000 (effective date appears to contain a clerical error in the bill text).
