Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes § 386-80 to require that impartial physicians appointed by the director of labor and industrial relations to examine injured employees have a specialty appropriate for the injury being examined.

Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 to cover examination fees for appointed duly qualified physicians conducting workers' compensation examinations.

The appropriated funds are to be expended by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for examinations conducted under § 386-80.

Takes effect on July 1, 2017.
