S.B. 901 Summary

• Amends Section 201-72.5 of Hawaii Revised Statutes regarding the Aerospace Advisory Committee membership composition and appointment procedures.

• Eliminates the requirement for the Governor to appoint four members representing the economic development boards of Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii; instead these members shall be selected directly by each respective economic development board.

• Eliminates the requirement for the Governor to appoint three members representing the University of Hawaii at Manoa, University of Hawaii at Hilo, and University of Hawaii community college system; instead these members shall be selected directly by their respective institutions.

• Maintains Governor appointment authority over the three members representing the aerospace industry, with legislative input from the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House submitting nominee lists.

• Takes effect July 1, 2050.
