S.B. 944 Summary

• Appropriates general fund revenues to the Department of Budget and Finance for collective bargaining cost items related to the transition of Maui region hospital employees to Maui Health System, a Kaiser Foundation Hospitals LLC entity.

• Funds payments to affected employees pursuant to supplemental agreements negotiated between the employer and exclusive representatives following the transfer agreement approved on January 14, 2016.

• Transfer of Maui region hospital operations was originally approved by the legislature under Act 103, Session Laws of Hawaii 2015.

• Appropriated funds shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year; provided that any unencumbered moneys as of June 30, 2018 shall lapse on that date.

• Takes effect July 1, 2050.
