• Requests the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association to survey its membership about rat lungworm disease cases in animal companions

• Survey should collect data on both suspected and confirmed cases of rat lungworm disease in animal companions over a timeframe determined by the Association

• Rat lungworm disease (angiostrongyliasis cantonensis) is identified as a zoonotic disease that can spread from animals to humans and has been documented in cats, dogs, and other animals in Hawaii and Australia

• Association must submit a report of survey results to the Legislature with all deliberate speed upon completion

• A certified copy of the resolution will be transmitted to the President of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association
