Department of Education requested to convene a working group by July 1, 2018 to review afterschool programs in Hawaii's public schools.

Working group to review existing afterschool program inventory, funding sources, costs, student participation levels, and recommendations for improving availability and quality.

Working group to develop common data management systems linking afterschool program participation to school attendance and grades, align funding schedules with school calendars, and implement Hawaii Afterschool Quality Guidelines.

Department of Education to establish an Afterschool Program Advisory Council within its Community Engagement Office to support the working group's findings and recommendations.

Department of Education to submit working group findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 Regular Session convenes.
