S.C.R. NO. 170 Summary

• Requests all state agencies to take action to achieve the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and their indicators by 2030, aligning with Hawaii's existing Aloha+ Challenge, Sustainable Hawaii Initiative, and World Conservation Congress Hawaii Commitments.

• Establishes specific state targets across all 17 SDGs including: ending poverty and hunger, ensuring health and education, achieving gender equality, clean water and energy, decent work and economic growth, sustainable infrastructure, responsible consumption, climate action, ocean and land conservation, peace and justice, and partnerships.

• Specifies measurable goals such as 70 percent clean energy (40% renewable, 30% efficiency), doubling local food production by 2020, protecting 30 percent of priority watersheds by 2030, managing 30 percent of nearshore ocean waters by 2030, and achieving 100 percent renewable electricity by 2045.

• Requires certified copies to be transmitted to the Governor, all state agency directors, county mayors, all county council chairpersons, and neighborhood board chairpersons statewide for implementation.
