S.C.R. No. 174 Summary

• Attorney General is requested to review the Department of Education's sexual harassment policies and training for employees, contractors, and volunteers.

• Review must assess whether current policies and training are sufficient and determine correlation between additional training and reported sexual harassment incidents.

• Attorney General shall examine sexual harassment policies at private schools to identify best practices that could be integrated into public schools.

• Attorney General must recommend improvements to Department of Education policies and training, and submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 Regular Session.

• Department of Education, Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, and relevant entities are requested to cooperate and provide information to support the Attorney General's review.
