Requests Papa Ola Lōkahi to assess the impact of providing health insurance coverage for Native Hawaiian culture-based practices and healing practices that manage weight, cardiovascular health, diabetes, and chronic diseases.

Cites Hawaii Revised Statutes section 226-20 requiring prioritization of programs addressing social determinants of health and reducing disparities for Native Hawaiians, who have among the highest rates of obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and mortality in Hawaii.

Notes that traditional Native Hawaiian practices including hula and canoe paddling have demonstrated effectiveness in weight management, cardiovascular health, diabetes management, and chronic kidney disease management.

Requires Papa Ola Lōkahi to submit findings, recommendations, and any necessary implementing legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2020 Regular Session convenes.
