• Request the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources to rename the Mauna Kea Recreation Area (tax map key 4-4-16:03, approximately 20.5 acres) in Hawaii County as the "Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area."

• Direct the Department of Land and Natural Resources and Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signage for the renamed recreation area.

• Ensure the renaming does not adversely impact any state or federal funding for the recreation area.

• Transmit certified copies of the resolution to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Board of Land and Natural Resources Chairperson, Director of Transportation, and Hawaii County officials.

• Honor Gilbert Kahele's decades of service to Hawaii, including his work co-founding Pāʻa Pono Miloli'i, his service in the Hawaii State Senate, and his efforts to rehabilitate and transfer management of the recreation area to Hawaii County in 2011.
