Insurance Commissioner requested to study the adequacy of insurance coverage requirements for transportation network companies and their drivers under Act 236 (Session Laws of Hawaii 2016)

Study should examine whether current insurance coverage is adequate to cover claims by passengers, drivers, and members of the public for injuries, deaths, or property damage from motor vehicle accidents

Insurance Commissioner directed to compare transportation network company coverage requirements with insurance coverage required for airport permittees, taxicabs, and commercial vehicles regulated by other state agencies

Insurance Commissioner must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2019 Regular Session convenes
