Request the Honolulu Police Department to report on funding costs for on-campus school resource officers, including manpower requirements, number of officers needed, and associated expenses for intermediate and high schools on Oahu.

Require the report to be submitted no later than twenty days before the 2019 Legislature convenes.

Acknowledge that the federal "Cops in Schools" grant program, which awarded over $750,000,000 nationally in 1999, has since been depleted.

Note that Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui counties have maintained school resource officers in certain schools despite lack of federal funding.

Direct certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Board of Education Chair, Department of Education Superintendent, Honolulu Mayor, City Council Chair, and Honolulu Police Chief.
