Requests the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association conduct a survey of its membership regarding rat lungworm disease cases in animal companions.

Survey must inquire about the number of suspected cases and confirmed cases of rat lungworm disease in animal companions over a timeframe to be determined by the Association.

Rat lungworm disease (angiostrongyliasis cantonensis) is identified as a zoonotic disease that can spread from animals to humans and has been documented in cats, dogs, and other animals in Hawaii and Australia.

Association must submit a report of survey results to the Legislature with all deliberate speed upon completion of the survey.

A certified copy of the resolution must be transmitted to the President of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association.
