HI HB1104

Repeals the $10 per day allowance for legislators on their island of legal residence conducting official legislative business during recesses and interim periods.

Replaces the per diem allowance with a new allowance structure for legislators required to remain away from their home island overnight or longer during official legislative business.

Sets the allowance rate to cover board, lodging, and incidental expenses (but not travel), limited to the greater of maximum allowances paid to federal government or State employees.

Requires the allowance rate to be jointly determined by the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives for the entire legislature.

Takes effect upon approval.
